![]() Maybe the only thing you can actually achieve by rendering these 'CGI models' is having dynamic light on them. They were animated to look good in low-res and 24 fps. They were modeled to look good as sprites. And while they are indeed 'high poly' it won't help. In game sprite models aren't the ones you see in character select. Sorry, dude, but that's just some marketing BS. I promise it's worth the five minutes it takes to install and test. ![]() To those people I'll just say that you really should check out the wrapper for yourself to see the full effect. Here are some screenshots for comparison:ĮDIT: Folks have aptly pointed out that the two screenshots I originally provided didn't have noticeable differences, so I've taken my own screenshots to hopefully better illustrate the difference that the wrapper can make: ĮDIT 2: So there continues to be quite a lot of comments saying that the difference still isn't very obvious, aside from a slight increase in brightness. ![]() The wrapper itself is an incredibly easy install, and when combined with windowed mode, can really improve the overall look of the game. This is actually what the game originally shipped with, but since modern graphics cards use Direct3D, a manual install of the Glide wrapper is necessary for the game to run at its full graphical potential. It also re-enables certain graphics settings that are normally disabled, like brightness, gamma, and contrast adjustment. I know some folks are already aware of this, but for those who aren't and still play D2 regularly, there's a graphics mod called Glide Wrapper that enhances lighting effects and provides some much-needed anti-aliasing (which is particularly noticeable when looking at menus and text).
